Full MBA Scholarship for African Women at Oxford University

We have gathered  an opportunity for one woman who’s always wanted to get an MBA from Said Business School at Oxford University.
From 2019, the Adara Foundation, in partnership with Oxford University, will be funding a full MBA scholarship for an exceptional female  candidate from Africa for three consecutive years.
This development was announced by Professor Peter Tufano, Dean of Saïd Business School, at the annual Oxford Business Forum Africa, which coincided with International Women’s Day.
The scholarship, open to female candidates of an African nationality, covers the full MBA programme fee and living expenses of at least £14,777 respectively.
Note: Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to return to their home country upon completion of the one-year MBA programme to contribute to Africa’s business and socio-economic development.
The scholarships will be available for the 2019-20 academic year and no separate application will be needed as the team will use details you supply in your MBA application form to determine your eligibility.

Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Prize for Literature and Literary Criticism

Applicants are hereby invited for The Nigeria Prize for Literature. The yearly literary prize is endowed by Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to honour the author of the best book by a Nigerian within the last four years.

The prize rotates among four literary genres – prose fiction, poetry, drama and childrens literature. This year, the competition is for Children’s Literature.
The competition is open only to published works by Nigerian writers irrespective of thier place of residence. It carries a reward of $100,000.

The winner will normally be announced in October and will be presented to the public on a later date.
All entries must be in by 5th April, 2019. Late entries will not be entertained.

Submission Procedure:

  • Ten copies of the entry and, if available, an e-copy, together with evidence of Nigerian citizenship (photocopy of Nigerian passport or National identily card), may be submitted either by authors or publishers, in accordance with the genres in competition.
  • Books should be submitted to Nigeria LNG Limiteds External Relations Division, promoters of the prize, by the stipulated deadline. Failure to meet the stated conditions will lead to disqualification of the entry.
  • No book published before January, 2015 will be accepted. Complete contact information, including full contact address, email(s), phone number(s) and other relevant contact Information should accompany each submission.
  • An author will enter only one published work, Mere manuscripts will not be considered. No book previously submitted for this competition may be re-submitted at later date, even if major revisions have been made or a new edition published. The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence.
  • No members of the Advisory Board or Panel of judges can enter their work(s) for the award in the period in which they are serving and two years therafter. No entries will be entertained from members of NLNG Staff and their families

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) honours outstanding projects by individuals, institutions and organizations related to Education for Sustainable Development  (ESD).
The prize, which is funded by the Government of Japan, consists of three annual awards of USD 50,000 for each recipient. The Prize and award winners recognize the role of education in connecting the social, economic, cultural and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. The Global Action Programme on ESD (GAP) calls for scaling up of ESD action at all levels as a means of implementing all the Sustainable Development Goals.

Selection criteria

UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development, 2019

The three Prize winners are selected by the Director-General of UNESCO on the basis of recommendations made by an international independent Jury consisting of five experts.
The project/programme of the nominee are assessed by the Jury on the basis of the following criteria:
  • Transformation: The project/programme practices Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as transformative education in support of sustainable development, , leading to individual and social change.
  • Integration: The project/programme addresses the three dimensions of sustainable development (society, economy, environment) in an integrated way.
  • Innovation: The project/programme demonstrates an innovative approach to ESD.
In addition to these three criteria, the project/programme should:
  • Must have been running for at least four years
  • Must have a high impact relative to the invested resources
  • Must be replicable and scalable
  • contribute to one or more of the five Priority Action Areas of the GAP.
